Policies & commercial terms
What it costs to use TechnicalMandi, who can transact here, and how deals are billed. Written in plain language on purpose.
1. What it costs
Buyers
Buyers use TechnicalMandi free of charge. There is no subscription, no listing fee, no fee to post a requirement and no buyer-side commission. The price you are quoted is the price you are invoiced — we do not add a platform fee on top of it at checkout.
Taxes, freight and any bank or financing charges applicable to your order are separate and are shown on your invoice.
Sellers
TechnicalMandi charges the seller a commission of 2% per transaction. That is the platform's only commission: it is charged on the seller side, on a completed transaction, and there is no corresponding charge to the buyer.
Sellers pay nothing to list, and nothing to hold inventory or pricing on the platform.
2. If a seller does not fulfil an accepted order
Once a seller accepts an order, we treat that as a commitment to supply. A seller who then fails to fulfil it is charged a non-fulfilment penalty.
The penalty — charged to the seller
The penalty is the greater of:
- 1% of the value of the order; or
- ₹50,000.
Whichever of the two is higher is the amount charged. In practice ₹50,000 is the floor on any order below ₹50,00,000, and 1% is what applies above it.
Worked examples
- Order of ₹8,00,000 → 1% is ₹8,000, which is less than ₹50,000 → ₹50,000 is charged.
- Order of ₹1,20,00,000 → 1% is ₹1,20,000, which is more than ₹50,000 → ₹1,20,000 is charged.
When it applies
It applies to the seller, on an order the seller has accepted and then not supplied. It is charged per unfulfilled order — one order, one penalty.
It is not automatic. Our team raises it deliberately, because whether an order went unfulfilled through the seller's fault is a judgement, not a status change. Where the seller was not at fault — the buyer did not pay, we cancelled the order, or the material failed our own lab check — no penalty is charged. We may also waive a penalty.
How it is applied
The penalty is calculated on the value of the order as recorded when the penalty is raised, so a later amendment to the order does not restate a penalty already charged. The amount is computed by the formula above and is not open to being set by hand — where we accept that a penalty should not stand, we waive it rather than rewrite it. The seller can see any penalty raised against them, with the order it relates to.
This is a term between TechnicalMandi and the seller. Buyers are not charged it, do not receive it, and are not shown a seller's penalty record.
The mechanics of recovering a charged penalty, and the route for a seller to contest one, are among the terms noted as not yet published at the foot of this page.
3. Who can transact
TechnicalMandi is a business-to-business platform for agrotechnicals. It is not open to consumers, and nothing on it is sold for personal use.
Onboarding requires compliance with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC). Before an account is approved to transact we require, and verify:
- your CIB&RC registration certificate;
- your GST registration;
- your formulation licence, where your business holds one.
An account with no verified CIB registration certificate on file cannot be approved to transact. This is enforced by our systems and cannot be waived by our staff. Browsing the catalog is available while a check is in progress; posting requirements and placing orders are not.
We may decline or withdraw approval where documents cannot be verified, have lapsed, or do not match the business named on the account.
4. Seller anonymity and who you are contracting with
Seller identity is confidential. Buyers are not shown, and cannot obtain from the platform, the name, company or location of the seller supplying their material. What is disclosed is the supply mode (made or imported), the origin country, the grade and the lab result.
TechnicalMandi is the counterparty of record on every transaction. You buy from us and you are invoiced by us; we buy from the seller separately. Your commercial relationship, and your recourse, is with TechnicalMandi — not with an anonymous third party.
Sellers, correspondingly, are not shown the identity of the buyer.
5. Quality and testing
Every transaction is subject to genuineness checking by our in-house lab. This is not sampled and it is not optional — it applies to each transaction on the platform.
Material that fails our check does not ship to you. Where a quality issue is identified after dispatch, raise it with us — as the counterparty of record, resolving it is our responsibility, not something we will redirect to the supplier.
6. Your data
The compliance documents you submit — CIB certificate, GST registration, formulation licence — are held privately and are readable only by the TechnicalMandi team reviewing your account. They are not visible to other users of the platform, buyers or sellers.
We record how the platform is used (pages viewed, technicals opened) to understand demand and improve the catalog. Messages you send us through the contact form are used to answer you.
Not yet published
This page sets out our commercial arrangement and our operating rules. It is not a substitute for a full contract, and we would rather tell you what is missing than imply it exists. Our detailed terms of service and privacy policy — including governing law, dispute resolution, payment and credit terms, returns and data retention — are being finalised and will be published here. Until they are, the terms of an individual transaction are those on the quotation and invoice we issue you.
Specifically on the non-fulfilment penalty in section 2: the amount and when it is charged are settled and stated above. How a charged penalty is recovered, whether any notice or cure period applies before it is raised, and the procedure for a seller to contest one, are not yet settled and are deliberately not stated. They will be published here with the full seller agreement.
If a specific term matters to your decision, ask us and we will put it in writing.
